To create an Aurora Disney Princess birthday cake, start to make an ombre buttercream frosting, take your favorite shade from dark at the bottom to light to the top. This recipe assumes for an 8 - 9-inch for 4-layer cake and frost between layers with white buttercream frosting.
- 1/3 cup butter or margarine (salted or unsalted)
- 1 ½ teaspoons white food coloring
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 1 - 2 tablespoons milk
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 1 ½ teaspoons pink food coloring
- 1 - 2 tablespoons tablespoons milk
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 5 - 6 tablespoons tablespoons milk
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 2 Pink Food coloring
- 1 1/8 cups Crisco shortening
- 1 Aurora Disney Princess doll
- 2 disposable bag
- 1 spatula
- 1 big and sharp knife
- A pair of scissors
- 4 8-inch round cake tin
- 1 microwave bowl
- 1 round cake board
- 1 Blinking cakeboard
The first step, add powdered sugar and butter in the medium bowl with a spoon or electric mixer. Mix it on low speed.
Then, pour the white food coloring and 1 tablespoon of the milk. Beat it just enough to make the frosting spreadable and smooth. Need to know, if the frosting is too thick, pour more milk for a few drops. Meanwhile, if the frosting is too thin, add in a small amount of powdered sugar.
This step is as same as white buttercream frosting, add butter and powdered sugar in the bowl with electric spoon and mixer. Mix it on low speed.
Next, pour 1 tablespoon of the milk and pour the pink food coloring. Then, stir it just enough and make the frosting smoothly. Finally, the pink buttercream frosting is ready.
Stir the butter and shortening with electric mixer on medium speed until it’s blended. Add powdered sugar and beat it on low speed. Gradually pour the milk and vanilla. Mix it until fluffy and light.
Separate the batter for 4 bowls to add the food coloring. For 1 bowl, keep in the white color butter, for others bowls, pour 1/8 teaspoon of pink food coloring into the 1 bowl to make the lighter pink buttercream, grease it with whisk or fork until mixed.
Repeat for the next 2 bowls buttercream frosting for all shade of the same color. Add a little pink food coloring to the 2 bowl to get a shade darker pink color. The batter is ready to bake.
Prepare the white buttercream frosting and pink buttercream frosting and also the microwave bowl, 4 baking cake tins, and some bowls.
Grease some butter or vegetable oil and some flour into a microwave bowl in order to take off the cake after burnt easily. Pour white buttercream frosting for a half of microwave bowl, then bake it for 20 minutes.
Continue the first step with darkest pink buttercream. Flatten the buttercream using the spatula to make the surface smooth. Then, bake it for 15-20 minutes. Take the another cake tin, pour the second light pink buttercream and also bake it for 15- 20 minutes.
For the last baking, pour the lighter pink buttercream into the baking cake tin, bake it for 15-20 minutes too.
While the cake is baking, you should prepare the cake board. First, place the round board on the blinking board, then mark it as round as the board. Cut the blinking board round. Glue the round board, make sure that the glue spread evenly. Then stick the blinking board on the round board. You can press it down using the another board to make sure the both boards stuck.
When the fourth cake is cooked. Start to chop the top of the cake and the bottom. Do it for all of the cake. The step is to make the cake surface flat and easy when we make ombre layer cake.
After it finished, spread the white buttercream frosting to cake board to stick the cake. Start the bottom with darkest pink color cake, then spread the next lighter pink cake above the first one darkest cake. Spread the white buttercream again for the lightest pink cake. Next, spread the white cake around the third light pink cake. Continue the steps to stick the microwave bowl cake around upper the fourth cake. Do not forget to add the buttercream frosting on the cake for each stuck cake.
After the all of the cake is stuck, then make a hole in the middle of cake top about 10 cm. Cover the doll legs using the plastic food. Dip the Aurora Disney Princess doll into the hole. Give some white buttercream frosting around her waist.
Then, tidy up the cake with cutting the edge of cake from the top to bottom so as you can look the ombre color of the cake. After the cake was tidy, clean the splattered cake. Cover it with the pink buttercream frosting over all the cake.
